Well, the ultrasound was hopeful. Thank-you to those who were praying for me! The technician said that my right ovary was large, but still within parameters for normal size and she saw no signs of a tumor on that side. GREAT! On the left side, however, the ovary is enlarged and the tumor is still about 5.6cm long. That's a lot better than where we started at 10.
When my surgeon called, he said that the amount of one of my chemo drugs I received (the one I was concerned about) basically destroyed my ovaries. The right one that I thought to be good looks aged- like it should be in a forty or fifty year old's body. But women are having babies older nowadays, so it's still possible. The surgeon didn't sound hopeful, but I still am.
As of now, I am scheduled for the surgery I've been dreading this Friday at noon. I check in at 10. We're hoping and praying that my surgeon, Dr. Kucera, doesn't have to remove both ovaries.

Meredith,
I'm praying for you. On my knees and know God is in control. Thank you for being such an inspiration to me. I pray that one day you could write a book for others to see your strength and faith. How it has brought you through this and made you so strong. God is in control. Thanks for all that God has used you to teach me. I love you. Blessings Deb
We're still praying and believing in an awesome God. Not one thing surprises Him though we are often caught completely off guard by life. I think of the song that says, "God will make a way where there seems to be no way. He works in ways we cannot see. He will make a way for me. He will be my guide, hold me closely to His side. With love and strength for each new day, He will make a way. He will make a way."
Hey Mer, did you ever read "The Hiding Place"? Corrie ten Boom's sister reminded her to thank God for the fleas in the concentration camp, even if they couldn't understand why there had to be fleas. God worked through those fleas to allow the sisters to spread the Gospel. If God can work through fleas, He can work through this too, right? That's what I'm holding onto as we continue to pray for you. Your faith is an encouragement to me and everyone who has been traveling with you on this journey.
love Rinda
It's Grandma C coming to you again,
our dear Meredith!
"God is still on the throne and He will remember His own. His promise is sure, He will NOT forsake you. God is still on the throne." I learned that song over 65 years ago and it just came back to me, just for you.
We have been in much prayer regarding your medical needs and of course will continue to hold you up in prayer. God knows all your needs and He will bring you through all this. We appreciate your wonderful spirit and your willingness to pour out all your inner feelings in such an open way. You are deeply loved.
Yes a book would be GREAT!
Your Curteman Grandparents
Father God, Your grace and mercies are new each morning...GREAT is your faithfulness. Where can we go to get away from your loving kindness...no matter where we run to, you are there. How wonderful you are! We want to see you lifted up and praised by every soul on earth. God, we love you.
Father, we know that you hold your children in your everlasting arms. Please hold Nick & Mer extra close. Please let them feel and hear your heart. Please bless them, encourage them and let them hear your words.
Thank you for allowing us to come to you any time, any where. Thank you for Jesus. We love you.
Amen -

Hi Meredith,
Uncle Larry and I send our prayers and good thoughts to you as you have this surgery. We love you.
Aunt Laurel and Uncle Larry
The best source of peace and comfort comes from our Heavenly Father and His Word:
Psalm 121
"I lift my eyes to the hills, where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip, he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you, the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm-He will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore."
As I read these many responses to your BLOG, I am moved to tears of joy that God has surrounded you with people who love you and pray over you--He did this for you! And as I read this Psalm, I feel his calm and peace in my own heart knowing that He is not only watching over you BUT is guiding the hands of the surgeon and other doctors and nurses and specialists--He is active and fighting for you as well. What love, Mer, what amazing love!
Hugs,
Lor
I am praying a lot for you Meredith! Stay strong...
